24th Conference on Innovation in Clouds, Internet and Networks (ICIN)

24th Conference on Innovation in Clouds, Internet and Networks (ICIN)

The theme of the conference for 2021 is the melding of network and computing services that is clearly demonstrated by the increasing softwarization of the network services in the the core and the access networks, the rise of computing in the network and the growth of cognition in networking for management and control as well as for value added services at the edge and in the data center.

Several innovations are impacting the ongoing transformations toward the network of the future and the evolution of cloud services.

More and more the network fabric itself emcompasses functionality usually associated with computing as increased intelligence and cognition are necessary to address emerging requirements of distributed services, automation and network reliability.

At the same time, more and more, the cloud is extending to the edge adding a number of heterogeneous networked subsystems to the Internet with a variety of requirements that further highlight the need for novel architectures , e.g., IoT systems, augmented and virtual reality and service delivery platforms.

Noêl Crespi is leading the International Advisory Board.

  • IDCS 2018 : The 11th International Conference on Internet and Distributed Computing Systems

IDCS 2018 : The 11th International Conference on Internet and Distributed Computing Systems

Modern systems such as distributed systems, cloud computing, mobile computing, edge computing, fog computing, and cyber-physical systems are tend to complexity, elasticity, dependability, security especially when dealing with dynamics events or actions in their environments and/or Internet applications, we are not only need to keep those systems running normally, but also need them to self-adaptive many of changes. On the other hand, the development of the Internet is very high rapid, and the Internet has already entered the 5G era. The Internet as society infrastructure and the widespread use of mobile edge, wireless wearable devices or IoT sensors have laid the foundation for the emergence of innovative network applications and transportation and logistics. Under the influence of these most advanced technologies, human production and life are gradually changing. The academic and industrial worlds are constantly developing and innovating in areas such as mechanical learning, artificial intelligence, and media stream processing. These technologies not only enrich and improve the quality of life of modern people, but also in the process of integration in many fields, the huge amount of data processing, and the integration of the digital world with the physical environment make humans also constructive development in biological, agricultural, and policy.

This conference desired to look for inspiration in diverse areas (e.g., infrastructure & system design, software development, big data, control theory, artificial intelligence, IoT, self-adaptation, emerging models, paradigms, applications and technologies related to Internet-based distributed systems) to develop new ways to design and mange such complex and adaptive computation resources.

  • The 8th IEEE International Symposium on Cloud and Services Computing (IEEE SC2) 2018

The 8th IEEE International Symposium on Cloud and Services Computing (IEEE SC2) 2018

The “Cloud” is a natural evolution of distributed computing and the widespread adaption of virtualization and SOA. Services computing is a new cross-discipline subject that covers the science and technology needed to bridge the gap between business services and IT services. In cloud computing, IT-related capabilities and resources are provided as services, via the Internet and on-demand, accessible without requiring detailed knowledge of the underlying technology.

IEEE SC2 2018 is an important forum for researchers and industry practitioners to exchange information regarding advancements in the state of art and practice of IT-driven cloud computing technologies and services, as well as to identify emerging research topics and define the future directions of cloud and services computing.

    MobileHealth 2018

MobileHealth 2018 : The 8th ACM MobiHoc 2018 Workshop on Pervasive Wireless Healthcare

Health cost represents a considerable ratio in the economic budget of developed countries, and certain tendency studies are not optimistic about an improvement in the situation. Average age of the population tends to increase and the number of people requiring more or less care intensive medical monitoring is not small. This increases overall cost of medical care. No doubt, using socio-medical establishments to place people at risk under surveillance is impractical for cost reasons, but also for reasons of quality of life. Many of these people are fully autonomous, though weakened. Their psychological confinement due to the presence of nursing staff would be a breach of their freedom. Therefore, partially replacing the assistance of nursing staff by small health surveillance and communication equipment like sensors, networks, monitoring software could be cost effective and would increase life standard. The objective is to develop and implement innovative solutions based on information technologies and wireless communication for the benefit of those needing medical permanence. Recent Advances in technology has led to the development of small, intelligent, wearable sensors capable of remotely performing critical health monitoring tasks and then transmitting patient’s data back to health care centres over wireless medium. Such wireless health monitoring platforms aim to continuously monitor mobile patients needing permanent surveillance. Patients benefit from continuous ambulatory monitoring as a part of a diagnostic procedure, optimal maintenance of a chronic condition or during supervised recovery from an acute event or surgical procedure.

However, to set up such platforms several issues along the communication chain should be resolved. The acquisition of medical information via a set of wireless sensors embedded in the patient himself, the treatment and use of this information either by a local contractor equipment or offset after transfer in 3G/4G/5G and/or WiFi/HEW connection to a data server, the access to the collected data, …etc. are some of the important challenges that we have to consider. Each level represents a complex subsystem with a local hierarchy employed to ensure efficiency, portability, security, and reduced cost.

MobileHealth workshop aims to provide a forum for the interaction of these multiple areas as an important chance to discuss and understand what aspects have to be considered to provide effective pervasive wireless healthcare systems. The theme of the 2018 edition of MobileHealth is Improving the Smart Cities Citizens Healthcare.
